Property Assessments
A property threat assessment is a written report generated after thorough inspection of a physical structure and its grounds. Our experience includes working with religious institutions such as a church or temple, and private facilities such as businesses, independent schools, and medical offices.
Four major principles (also known as safer by design strategies) are considered when completing a safety and security assessment of a property. They are: Natural Surveillance, Natural Access Control, Territorial Behavior (ownership), and Maintenance. Other design strategies may be included in the safety and security of the site that is being assessed.
A total risk assessment is performed by the assessor, and it is designed to generate discussion on matters which contribute to opportunities for criminal activity and unwanted behavior on the property. The end goal is the reduction of risk and improvement of safety.
In order to complete an assessment of your property, the assessor will first meet with leaders in your organization to gain understanding of your concerns and needs. The assessor will then visit the property on several occasions, typically at different times of day and various days of the week. Pictures will be taken to illustrate the report’s findings.
The written assessment report will be presented during a meeting held with leadership, at which we will review the material and discuss its recommendations. The report becomes the property of the organization at the conclusion of that evaluation meeting.
Follow-up assessments can be provided after changes are implemented and/or on a regular basis going forward once a relationship between the institution and Perry Partners Consulting has been established.
Please note that we are not affiliated with any other vendor such as surveillance systems, on-site security services, or lighting companies. Any recommendations we make will be based solely on our experience and expertise. We do not receive any compensation from any third party for recommending their services, nor do we shy away from advising against some products.
A physical assessment and training program can be provided separately or combined for a holistic approach to safety at your institution.

Workplace Violence Prevention Training
A training will be customized for your institution, but generally will include the following two steps and elements.
Prior to the training, leaders in your organization will work with the assessor to:
Define workplace violence for your organization
Assess your organization’s culture of safety
Explore available workplace safety tools & technologies, and
Develop a workplace violence program policy framework for your organization
Day of Training presentation(s) will:
Integrate Workplace Violence prevention strategies
Teach your staff/employees to build their situational awareness
Provide staff with de-escalation skills, timing, and tactics
A role-specific training program is available for usher/greeters in religious settings.
Active shooter/critical incident response training is available, but rarely appropriate as a stand-alone course.
Preferably, all training is provided in person, but a webinar style presentation option is available. A hybrid approach is often the best approach, in which the pre-training meetings are conducted remotely and the training itself provided in person.
